Lick the Spoon was a name that my friends and I came up with at about 14 years old while on a road trip. The idea to use the world “Lick” came about because my name starts with an “L”, one of the girls’ name started with a “C”, and the last girls’ name started with a “K”. We figured that spelled out “LCK” which became “Lick”. We also were always the type of kids that never even got around to making the brownies because we would take the batter and eat it, so the name “Lick the Spoon” was born. It wasn’t until almost 10 years later that the name became a reality.
The naming of the business was easy, but deciding on a product was not. We knew that I had to have a unique product and eventually decided that I would create cookie balls. These, I figured, were not often found in bakeries and are a great bite-sized treat to satisfy a person’s chocolate cravings. After arriving home, some friends and I searched for any other business trying to sell cake or cookie balls in the area and we only found one other business. From there I began to experiment to come up with my 6 different flavors and worked to create the perfect shape and size of the cookie balls. The time and effort that has been made so far has already been extensive, exhausting, and sometimes overwhelming, but I am excited to have seen how far I’ve already come and looking forward to seeing the path ahead.
